Holdfast Field Supply is a demonstration store built to show what a to-C storefront looks like. The brand is fictional and no orders are fulfilled.
Nothing ships until a season is on it
Every product goes out to between eight and twenty people who use that category weekly. They are not told which brand made it and they are not paid in product. We ask for one thing back: the point at which it annoyed them.
What we are actually looking for
- The first failure, not the last. A pack that survives 400 km but whose hip belt starts creaking at 60 km has a problem at 60 km.
- Field-serviceable or not. If a tester could not fix it on the trail with the tool roll they already carry, it goes back to the bench.
- Whether the spec is honest. If we claim −6 °C, we want the temperature at which someone actually stopped sleeping.
What we publish
Every product page carries the exploded diagram, the part numbers, and a plain sentence about what the product is bad at. That last one costs us sales and we keep doing it, because the returns it prevents cost more.
What we do not do
We do not run lab-only durability numbers, because a Martindale rub count has never told anyone whether a shoulder strap chafes. We do not sponsor athletes. We do not publish a test we did not run.
